Sweet Tooth - Bonus Activity

Hello Blogging world! Lots of people from Europe moved to New Zealand to have a calm and peaceful life to raise a family. When they shifted to New Zealand they brought special treats and yummy food. My favourite sweet treat of desert is Jiggly Cheesecake also known as Japanese cheesecake. This type of cake is very popular right now. Here is the recipe.

That is a very long recipe but making the cheesecake is very difficult. Here is the link to where I got the photo from. I hope you have have got inspired from this blog post! Please feel free to leave a comment! Bye! Bye! Blogging world!

Making a Fashion Statement - Activity 2

Hello Blogging world! In the years following WWII, everyone started to go back to there homes and families and have a normal life again. Soldiers returned to their sports teams and started competing again. In the late 1940s men and women would go watch these events, men wearing hats and suits while women wearing dresses, hats and gloves. These were called fashion. Here are 2 photos of what they use to wear in the late 1940s.

Those are what they use to wear and here is what we wear now.

There is so much that is different, the colour, the shine and much more! Now we have to find out 2 styles you prefer and why? The 2 styles I prefer is the women in the 2017 dress and the late 1940s right picture because the dress for 2017 has really pretty colours and the dress is very long. I also chose the late 1940s one too because old clothes could sometimes be special. I think 65 years from now most people will be wearing really cool clothes that you would wear to a meeting. I hope you have enjoyed this blog post! Please feel free to leave a positive, thoughtful and helpful comment. Bye! Bye! Blogging world!

VE Day! - Day 5

Hello Blogging world! This week has been another successful week of learning together! I hoped that you have learnt a lot from me. The WWII finally came to a end in 1945! Everyone in New Zealand had a VE Day, a VE day is short for Victory in Europe. Lots of people would come to your house and have a big party. If you were alive in the 1945s who would you invite? What will you do to celebrate? Tell me in the comments! Here is what I would do.

If I were to be alive in 1945 I would have invited my close friends that I love hanging out with and my family members. On that day we would go to a outside pool that is not public so that we can swim in it with my friends and family. I would also like to go to the beach and have a BBQ. With ice cold drinks like lemonade.

I really want to do those things right now but I can't. From making this blog post I learnt what a VE day is now. It was easy to write what I would have on a VE day in 1945 because these are my favourite things to do. I hope you have learnt from this blog post! Please feel free to leave a comment! Bye! bye! Blogging world!

Women at Work - Bonus Activity

Hello Blogging world! Both Women and Men severed in WWII. Women signed up to be nurses for the wounded men. And the men trained to be soldiers. My Nana Dorothy was one of those nurses. She was working on a big red cross medical ship.

For this activity we have to write at least 6-8 sentences about a short story that Dorothy experienced. Here is what she experienced.

One day you are walking along the deck of the ship when you hear a loud bang. You start to run as you see smoke coming from the far end of the ship. You run towards the room where your patients are waiting to receive treatment from the doctor. Just as you arrive at the door to their room you hear another loud bang and you…Now it is my time to finish her story.

Dorothy and the Loud Bang!
Just as you arrive at the door to their room you hear another loud bang and you call out, "Does anyone know what is happening?!?" All the nurses frantically turned their heads in horror not knowing what to do. Just like a train every nurse grabs a wheelchair for every in pain patient. All the patients line up nears the massive windows to see what is happening, Dorothy slowly tilts her head up and boom! A bullet went through the other window. The furious ocean began to bump up and down. The ship began to shake and everyone trying to evacuate when Dorothy stays there, in the ship with the sick patients trying to help them. Ka Boom! Everyone gasped they lost one nurse and all of the 18,000 wounded patients. What now?

There was my story finisher. I hope you have liked my story that I wrote. Please feel free to leave a comment this story was over 8 sentences but I enjoy writing that is why. Bye! Bye! Blogging world!

A Call to Arms - Activity 2

Hello Blogging world! In WWII over 140,000 New Zealanders went overseas to help in the war. Many were sent to fight huge battles, including the Atlantic that lasted over 5 years! The Atlantic battle came to a end in 1943, In total of 22 New Zealanders have been awarded the VCs, because of bravery.A VC is short for Victoria Cross. We had to find 1 of the VCs winners in the WWII, and tell everyone about him and what he did to earn the VC. I chose Keith Elliott.

Keith Elliott is a man from Egypt. He got awarded the VC just because his effort at Ruweisat Ridge on 15 July 1942. Serving with 22nd Battalion, Elliot got badly wounded on his chest from a heavy machine gun. For his bravery we will all be thankful.

From making this blog post I learnt what a VC is and how you can earn it. I hope you have also learnt what a VC is if you haven't and now know a little bit more about a VC WWII winner. I hope you have enjoyed this blog post! Please feel free to leave a comment! Bye! Bye! Blogging world!

An Eventful Experience - Day 4

Hello Blogging world! Back in 1939 a WWII began again! WWII started on 1st September 1939 when a army from Germany invaded Poland. Two days after France and England declared WWII to began. In this activity we have to find 2 key events about WWII. Here are my 2 key events.

  1.  WWII started from a Germany army that went to Poland. WWII began at 1st September 1939. France and England declared Germany to start WWII.
  2.  On the 5th September South Africa starts to declares war on Germany. But 2 days before 5th September Britain, France, New Zealand and Australia declare war on Germany too.

There is 2 Main people which is the leader of Germany and Poland, it is Adolf Hitler for Germany and Władysław Andershose was for Poland. WWII lasted about 6 years! But not as long as WWI, It is very stressful for families to loose their members that were in the war. From making this blog post I learnt that WWII started in 1939 1st September. If you would like to see more events click here. I hope you enjoyed this blog post! Please leave a comment to help improve my work! Bye! Bye! Blogging world!

Paying it forward - Bonus activity

Hello Blogging world! In the 1930s New Zealand became a little bit better more people were able to find work and get payed. But everyone was still very cautious of using their money. They rarely even thought about buying other people gifts and treats. If I were to travel back to see my family members in 1930s I would have not bring a lot of things compared to now. Here is what I would have brought.

I would bring 2 blocks of Whittaker's Chocolate because it is real  chocolate and is very creamy and nice. I would also bring a little bit of lollipops because I like to lick lollipops. I would also like to take some dried apricots because I really like eating them and they are citrus which I like. I would also bring some spare clothes and 1 board game like Monopoly.

Do you like what I would have brought? What would you have brought if you were travelling in the 1930s? From making this blog post I learnt that Whittaker's Chocolate was existing since 1896. I hope you enjoyed this blog post! Bye! Bye! Blogging world!

Offering a Helping Hand - Activity 2

Hello Blogging world! Because America had a huge drought that almost lasted for a decade, it was very hard to buy food and clothing. Many crops were damaged because there wasn't much water left, and people didn't have enough money to buy food. What if you were still alive in the 1930s what would you have done to help these cold starving people? Leave a comment about what you would have done. Here is 3 creative ways I would have helped them to buy food and clothes.

  1.  Each month I would give a little envelope that would have $500 and to be creative I would have also added a pair of socks so that every time people would have socks and they won't need to buy socks.
  2.  The 2nd thing I would do is get my own piggy bank thing and everyday donate $1 into it. Once it has been 1 week we can donate it to them.
  3.  The last way I would help is to get a big box and store it with some new or old clothing in it and ship it to them so they don't have to use all of their money in one week or so.

From making this blog post I learnt that droughts can last very long. It was easy to write down 3 ways of helping the Americans, because in these days lot of people start to donate. I hope you have enjoyed this blog post. Bye! Bye! Blogging world!

Dealing with Stress - Day 3

Hello Blogging world! The success of the 1920s didn't continue to the 1930s, The stock market in America crashed on 1929. People lost loads of money and lost their jobs. It was a very stressful time for us, unfortunately some people still are very depressed and stressed out. One of the Summer Learning Journey asked us if we like excising when we are depressed, for me I don't exercise when I am depressed because I usually won't feel like moving if I am sad. But what are some tips to do if you are depressed? Here 3 things that I do.

  1.  I like to watch YouTube or the Television.
  2.  I like to eat because food is very delicious.
  3.  I like to talk to people about funny things so I get into a good mood.

There are the 3 tips and tricks you might want to try out if you are sad. From making this blog post I learnt that some people also like to exercise when they are sad. It was hard to say if I would exercise when I am sad because sometimes I would but not all the time. It was easy to write down 3 things that I do when I am sad because those are the top 3 things I always do when I am sad. Next time I will maybe try write why I like watching YouTube or the Television. I hope you enjoyed this blog post! Please leave a Positive, Thoughtful and helpful comment. Bye! Bye! Blogging world!

Crossing the Tasman - Bonus activity

Hello Blogging world! For the bonus activity we had to make any poem about this story. Here is the story, One day Australian people decided to explore New Zealand so they did. They hopped on the air plane and buckled up their seat belts before the ride started. Not a while later a snowstorm started happening and all the heavy ice boarded on the pilot's window that they couldn't even see anything. After a long 14 hour plane ride everyone remained safe. Imagining if I were to be on that ride for such a long time here is a poem that I would have written.

The views of the ocean was mind blowing.

After a while the snow storm began.

Snow collided with the air plane.

Magically but safely landed at Christchurch.

After a bumpy but successful ride I am still alive!

Never ending long storm.

Do you like my poem? It isn't a rhyming poem, comment down below what poem you think it is. From making this blog post I learnt how long their ride is from Australia to New Zealand in the 1920s. It was hard to find a poem because every poem is very creative and fun to use as a template. It was easy to find a site where lots of poems are because the Summer Learning Journey site already had a link. I hope you enjoyed this blog post! Please drop a comment to improve my work! Bye! Bye! Blogging world!

Art Deco - Activity 2

Hello Blogging world! Have you ever liked a piece of art that was very creative? Well that is called art deco. For today's 2nd activity we had to be judges and judge this amazing piece of artwork by Tamara De Lempicka. Here is the drawing. Do you like this self portrait of her driving her car? Well I do.

Here is what I rated this drawing,

5 star rating! I rated this self portrait of her 5 because it is very detailed and the shadows for the person is in the right position and everything is very equal and perfect. The colours looked very vintage too knowing that it is a long time ago.

From making this blog post I learnt that art started becoming popular in the 1920s. It was hard to rate this drawing because it is very stunning and all the colours are bold but the hand looks very big compared to the face. It was easy to say why it was 5 star rating because it is very detailed. If you enjoyed this blog post please feel free to leave a comment about this work that I did. Bye! Bye! Blogging world!

Popular Culture - The Silent Movie

Hello Blogging world! Today's first activity is about the 1920s silent movies. They never talked in movies that time but the acting was just right so that people knew what they were trying to show in the movie. The ever first movie released was Charlie Chaplin's movies. Here is his first movie if you want to see the trailer. Do you like it? Maybe tell me in the comments if you like it or not.

I would definitely like to watch a silent film because the actors for it is very good at acting and they can tell a really good story. Would you like to watch one of these old movies from the olden days?

I really like the Gold Rush movie. From making this blog post I learnt who Charlie Chaplin is. It was easy to find out what the silent movie was about because of their detailed acting. I hope you enjoyed this blog post, please feel free to leave a comment down below. Bye! Bye! Blogging world!

The Right to Vote - Activity 2

Hello Blogging world! Today's 2nd activity is about voting. At the turn of the century only men in New Zealand can vote for their government, but women was not allowed to according to the law. New Zealand's ever first government elected was Richard John Seddon. You might or might have not heard of him but no worries here is one fact about him, he was the president since 1893-1906, which was for 13 years! But law about women not allowed to vote change in the late 1800's, because of this hard working women named "Kate Sheppard." She bravely called for a change in the law, thanks to her now everyone can vote! Sadly there is still some countries that still cannot allow women to vote which is Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia only started to let women vote in 2015 and that was only 2 years ago!

I think that it is pretty sad that women weren't allowed to vote till 2015 because everyone should have their say. It isn't fair because that means you don't get to have everyone's opinion and they don't get to choose what is best for them.

I am really thankful that Kate Sheppard changed the law so that everyone can vote. From making this blog post I learnt that Saudi Arabia recently letting women to vote in 2015. It was hard to think that there is more than 1 law about being a man or a lady, like how women can't vote and women was not allowed to work in the old days. It was easy to write down why it isn't fair if you can't vote because everyone should have their opinion. I hope you have enjoyed this blog post! Please feel free to leave a comment. Bye! Bye! Blogging world!

In Flanders Field - Bonus Activity

Hello Blogging world! For the Bonus Activity we had to think about the war. Another century passed by and New Zealand was peaceful and clam. But that peace and quiet came to a dead end. In 1914 a battle started in Europe, it was World War I. Men signed and trained to be soldiers and the women trained to be the nurses. Everyone who participated in the war went their for our freedom now. The war almost lasted for about 5 years and that is totally 1825 days. Over 18,000 people from worldwide risked their lives for ours. Every once a year on exactly 25th April everyone would go to a Anzac Day Ceremony at dawn, just to remember everyone that has died throughout their journey. We would always sing a poem too called "Flanders Field."

Here is a link to the poem if you would like to read it.

It makes me feel very special to be in such a pretty country I live in. It makes me feel very sad to know that thousands of people have claimed their lives for us to have a safe and nontoxic country. I really like this poem because it is very peaceful.

What do you think about the poem? Comment down below! I hope you have enjoyed this blog post. Bye! bye! Blogging world!

The Early Years - Day 1 week 2

Hello Blogging world! Today is Christmas day, but we still have fun and entertaining activities we need to do like the Summer Learning Journey. Starting week 2 we had to go back to the early years which is (1800s-1919) and search up a picture of a Cathedral and some information about it, if you want to learn what a Cathedral is click here Here is some deeper information about today's activity. We had to search up a photo of a Cathedral, where it is located, the name of the Cathedral, when it was built and how long did it take to build it? Here is a photo of a Cathedral.

I chose St. Patrick's Cathedral because this is the only church that I can quickly find when it was built. This is located at 43 Wyndham St. It was built at 1841 to 2007. It finished the same year when I was born that's a coincidence.

It was hard to find when it was built and how long it took. I hope you have enjoyed this blog post! Please feel free to leave a comment down below! Bye! Bye! Blogging world!

#EarnTheFern - Bonus Activity

Hello Blogging world! After the Treaty of the Waitangi was signed, New Zealand became a British colony, There were also much more countries that were in the British colony too. They were called the "Commonwealth." There was this man that organised a sports competition for the Commonwealth group. It is called the Commonwealth Games.

The first event started in Hamilton, Canada 1930's. The next Commonwealth Game is in 2018 Gold Coast in Australia. Many athletes are competing to have a chance to represent New Zealand at the games to Earn The Fern. One of New Zealand's gold medal winner is Bill Kini. He is very talented and is great at boxing. Here are the 4 questions we had to ask Bill Kini.

  1.  How much medals have you ever won?
  2.  How much talents can you do?
  3.  When did you start loving sports?
  4.  How did you have enough time to train for 2 sports at once?
Those were the questions that I would ask him. What would you ask him? I hope you have enjoyed this blog post! Please feel free to leave a comment down below! Bye! Bye! blogging world!

The Treaty of Waitangi - Activity 2

Hello Blogging world! For the 2nd activity we had to imagine we were at Waitangi. I have never heard of this place but the views and the fun things we can do really convince me to come. We had to read about the Waitangi, In the Waitangi you can do loads of fun activities, if you want to learn more about the Waitangi click here. We had to list 3 top things that we would dream to do and 1 that you would like to do the most, here is what I thought.

  1.  I would like to send a nice day doing adventure, I like to adventure and discover really cool things I have never seen!
  2.  I would dream to go back to ski on the snow mountain because all the views are stunning and learning how to ski again will give me primary school memories again!
  3.  Lucky last I would like to do water activities because the picture of the water looks so clean and pure. I would even like to take photos of it too.
So now on to the time you have been waiting for which one would I like doing the most!

I would like to go skiing again! Because I love bringing back old memories, even though we just went there this year. I wish I can just do all of these activities that the Waitangi has installed for everyone!

Here is a link to where I found this photo! I hope you liked this blog post, please feel free to leave a comment down in the comments section. Bye! bye! Blogging world!

Translating Phrases - Day 5

Yay we made it blogging world! Today is the last activity for week 1. Everyone has been busy contributing in the Summer Learning Journey so here some of their work! Click here! Well done to everyone. So moving on for today's activity, in the old days the first settlers were the Maori people so they talked Te Reo Maori, and then English people bravely came to New Zealand but they spoke English all of them couldn't understand each other. They had no translators, google and all that stuff we have now. So today we have try translate a little introduction about yourself by using google translate. Here are the translation in English first.

1. Welcome to New Zealand.
2. Amie is my name.
3. What is your name?
4. I like to play rugby.
5.Where do you come from?

I actually don't like playing rugby but those are one of the phrases. Now on to the Maori version.

1. Nau Mai Ki Aotearoa.
2. Ko Amie Toku Ingoa.
3. He Aha To Ingoa?
4. He Pai Taku Ki Te Takaro I Te Whutupaoro.
5. No Hea Koe?

You can see how handy the translator is right? So here is the link to the translator. So maybe next time you can try learn a different language too? I have really enjoyed this activity because now I know a little bit more Te Reo Maori. It was easy to get it translated because there was a translator we can use. I hope you have enjoyed this blog post! Please drop a comment down below! Bye! Bye! Blogging world!

Musical Festivals - Matatini - Bonus Activity

Hello Blogging world! For today's bonus activity we have to watch 3 videos from a every 2 year festival called "Te Matatini." These performances are pretty cool but we had to rank them our favourite #1 to least favourite #3 and say why we ranked them like that. Here is the rankings.

#1 Tamatea Arikinui

#2 Te Puku O Te Ika

#3 Iti Kahurangi

There was all the rankings. I ranked Tamatea Arikinui first because they were the only group that have danced and their harmonising is really good! The reason why I ranked Te Puku O Te Ika 2nd because their costumes were really pretty and they were doing the dance for their granddad. The last reason why I placed Iti Kahurangi 3rd is because most of the time they were just standing at one spot but their singing was still really good like the other ones.

From making this blog post I learnt what a Matatini means, it means this type of Maori festival. It was hard to choose which dance should be first, second and third. It was easy to add the video of the winning dance because I have already chosen the winning dance. I hope you have enjoyed this blog post and would like to see more! Please feel free to leave a comment to improve my work! Bye! Bye! Blogging world!

Playing Games - Activity 2

Hello Blogging world! For activity 2 we had to choose 1 out of 4 games that we like best, these games were from the olden days but they have carried on for generations and still exists! Here are links to the 4 games, Poi RakauKi O Rahi, Koruru Taonga and Poi Toa. Have you chosen your favourite game? Well here is mine!

Do you like this game well maybe you can play this with one of your friends!
(i) The name of this game is called "Poi Rakau."
(ii)The goal and purpose of this game is to try and stay in the game as long as you can, someone will say which direction to go to, and you have to go that direction you have to let go of your stick and try get the other players stick without it falling over.
(iii)The rules are you cannot dig your stick into the ground so it doesn't fall or else you are out! The second rule is that there has to be a person in the middle shouting out where to go for your next rotation.

From making this blog post I learnt how what types of games they used to play in the old days. It was hard to watch the video because it was restricted so I had to use another device. It was easy to choose the game because this was the least confusing game. All of these games sounded really fun have you played any of these? Please feel free to leave a comment down below! Bye! Bye! Blogging world!

The Waiata - A Song in Your Heart - Day 4

Hello Blogging world! Today is day 4 almost the last activity on week 1! Do you like singing to songs or listening to them you maybe like these traditional Maori songs they use to listen to them when they were younger. We listen to a lot of these songs and they are called " Waiata," and find our favourite one! Here is a link if you want to know more about Waiatas click here. Here is my favourite Waiata.

There it is! Do you like it, maybe comment down below your favourite Waiata? From making this blog post I learnt what a Waiata is and how graceful the songs are. I like this particular Waiata because, it is very upbeat and sounds amazing when you are in time! It was hard to find my favourite Waiata because all of them sound so good! It was easy to say why I like this song because our school use to use this song for Kapa Haka. Next time I will try explain what a Waiata is using my own words. I have really enjoyed making this log post because I like listening to music. Bye! Bye! Blogging world!

The More, the Merrier? - Day 3

Hello Blogging world! Today's activity is to think about our family. We had to go back to the olden days again. In the 1800's people had a lot of siblings the average of siblings they would have is seven to nine! We had to think about being in a big family in the old days and write why or why not we would like to be in that family. So here is my opinion.

I would not like to be in such a big family like this because I might feel left out sometimes because there is so many people to take care of. I wouldn't enjoy it because we will get our parents so stressed out, by doing all the washing cooking food and all the everyday basics.

From making this blog post I learnt that having big as family is not Ideal for me and the parents. It was hard to decide because if you were in a big family you would have a lot of people to play with. It was easy to write the reasons because there is always a lot of reasons to not have a big family. I hope you have liked this blog post and have time to leave a comment. Bye! Bye! Blogging world!

Waka Ama - Day 1 Bonus activity

Hello Blogging world! You might be wondering why I am back to day 1, I am back to day 1 because I haven't done this activity yet. So here it is! In the 1800's people used Wakas to race in for sports, until now they still do it! Must be very trendy! They have to row really fast to win, it takes a lot of effort! Here is a video of the race they had.

Wow! Isn't it fascinating to see them paddle that fast? If I were to do that job I would be tired the second I start paddling. I would not like to do this because this is very exhausting hard work! And as well you might even fall of the Waka if you are moving side to side too much! I have also sailed in a Waka myself, above shallow water and it was super hard to even turn!

From  making this blog post I learnt how to add the video so that you can just click on it and you don't need the link. It was hard to watch the video because it was restricted on my Chromebook, so I needed to use another device to watch the video. It was easy to find the reasons why I don't want to be doing that job or competition, because I am not a sporty kid.

If you have liked this blog post please be sure to leave a comment down below! Would you want to be in this competition? Bye! Bye! Blogging world!

Special Meals - Bonus activity

Hello Blogging world! For an extra activity for the day, I finished it off with a special meal! We had to post a photo of our favourite meal we like eating and why we like eating it. We could also include a recipe too. Here is what I liked eating.

Yes it is Fried Chicken, this is my all time favourite food/meal. I like any fried chicken especially chilli ones. Fried Chicken is coated with egg, flour, seasoning and much more, that's what give the chicken a good crunch to your mouth. I like eating fried chicken because I like chicken and that's the inside and I also like it because it is very crunchy. If you are interested in making Fried Chicken be out to check out this website about how to make friend chicken. Mmm... sounds tasty right? Now I want to hear what your favourite meal is to eat, comment down below what you like to eat! I hope you have enjoyed this blog post and would like to see more Summer Learning Journey blog posts. Bye! Bye! Blogging world!

The Rules of Engagement - Activity 2

Hello Blogging world! Today's 2nd activity for the Summer Learning Journey is to draw your dream job in the future, by using Google Drawings. I really liked this activity because I get to go creative and I love being creative! Talking about creative what do you think I want to be? Here is my drawing.

Well you might of guessed it by looking at the drawing, I want to become a Artist when I grow up. I'm painting a piece of artwork. I want to become a Artist because when I was little I started drawing and now I am really good at drawing. I know that I am also good at drawing because today I won a arts certificate and a prize. I wish that I would become a artist one day. I hoped you have liked this blog post and would like to comment about my work! Bye! Bye! Blogging world!

A house or a home? - Day 2 Summer Learning Journey.

Hello Blogging world! On the 2nd day of the Summer Learning Journey we had to go back in time and think about the 1800's. They didn't have proper houses to live in but now in 2017 we do! The houses they used to live in is a wharepuni, If you would like to find some more definitions of wharepuni click here.

Now you have read what a wharepuni is we have to write 2 similarities to our own home and the wharepuni, and 2 differences about your home and the wharepuni. Here is what I thought...

  1. The first reason why it is similar to my house is because it is a house and anyone can live in it.
  2. The second reason why it is similar to my house is that my house is a wooden house too.
Ok, now on to the differences...

  1. The first difference that I spotted out was that my house didn't have any of those Maori designs that were on the side of the wharepuni.
  2. Another difference I found was that their doors were always opened because they didn't have doors that time!

From making this blog post I learnt what a wharepuni is and how useful it was in the old days. It was hard to find the similarities because that was a long long time ago! It was easy find the differences because their were so much not in common to my house. Next time I will try and find better reason why it is kind of the same as my house. I hope you have enjoyed this blog post and would feel free to leave a comment! Bye! Bye! Blogging world!

Setting Sail - 2nd Activity

Hello Blogging world! As you might know there is not only 1 activity for each days in the Summer Learning Journey, so this is my 2nd activity for the day. This activity we had to write a letter to a friend about our travel to New Zealand and moving to a new country we have never been on. Under this text is a letter that I sent for Lily.

Dear: Lily,
over the past hours on the Waka I have had a successful but scary trip. I have tried eating a little all the time because I don't have limited food. Moving to a new country is surely scary, because I don't know where I will get money to buy the food and where will I stay for the night? How was your adventure to New Zealand Lily? Send me a letter!
From: Amie.

That was my letter to Lily about my 6 hour trip. I hoped you have enjoyed this blog post and would feel free to leave a comment to improve my work! Bye! Bye! Blogging world!

The First Settlers-Day 1 Summer Learning Journey

Hello blogging world! On the first activity for the Summer Learning Journey we had to read this story about Maui and the giant fish. We had to write 3 interesting facts about Maui that we learnt and other stories we know about him.

My first fact is that over thousands of years these gullies and mountains became the landscape of Aotearoa (New Zealand). Second fact is that every time when Maui's brothers would come back from fishing Maui would ask if he could go fishing but his brothers would always make a excuse so he can't go fishing. Third but last fact about Maui is that before fishing he made a plan to prove his brothers that he is a great fishermen! Here is one story about Maui that I have heard, Maui and the sun, I have read this but I encourage other people to read this if you haven't.

From reading this story I learnt that the first settlers was Maui. It was hard to find a photo for Maui and the giant fish. It was easy to find facts about this story because I have read this before. Next time I would try write more stories I have heard of. I hope you have enjoyed this blog post! If you would like to learn more about this story click here! Bye! Bye! Blogging world!

Wheels day!

Hello blogging world! On Monday the whole school did a Wheels day also known as Monday Fun Day. Some people could bring anything that has wheels on it to play with, we could also wear mufti and bring a gold coin donation. There was 3 rotations on the day. The seniors first did the water rotation my group did the slip 'n slide first it was super fun! This was another very successful day! Here are some photos of the day.

We also sold some leftover products from a recent Gala Day. From participating in Wheels day I learnt how to ride all sizes of bikes, small to big! I am super proud of myself and would like to have another Wheels day! It was hard to not get sunburn on my shoulders because it was such a hot and boiling day! It was easy to go down the slip 'n slide because it was very slippery and wet! Overall I really enjoyed this day! I hope you liked this blog post! Please feel free to leave a comment to improve my blog post! Bye! Bye! Blogging world!

Summer Learning Journey!

Hello Blogging world! Today a lady named "Megan," came in to talk about what we can do in the summer holidays to stay smart. We do these activities that are about knowledge and learning. Everyone registered into their own accounts. Everyday there is only limited 3 activities or you can do commenting. This years summer learning journey starts in 18th December 2017 to 26th January 2018. I chose a activity and I had to choose a country I would like to visit. Here is what a picked, England and why.

I would like to travel to England because England is very far away and in summer the temperature is like New Zealand's temperature so I would be fine with the temperature. The second reason why I want to go to England is that England is the #1 prettiest country because it has amazing sights! That's all the reasons why I want to go to England. I hope you have enjoyed my blog post and would feel free to leave a comment. Here is the link for their page click here. Bye! Bye! Blogging world!

What I love about the year!

Hello blogging world! In term 4 some students got picked out to be in the owl group. The owl group is to support the cancer society. The owl group is a art group, I got picked and we got given these 2 sheets of paper for some suggestions for the 3D owl. I managed to get 2 owls done on the sheet and lots of people liked mine. I liked this because the owl will be out somewhere popular and everyone will see it. Here is some photos of the owl!

That is some of the photos we took while painting the owl. From painting the owl I learnt how to paint really hard and tricky areas like the nose. It was hard to leave spots where they shouldn't be painted because sometimes it was just too narrow to not paint. It was easy to think of the ideas  because I know lots about art and our school. Next time I think I should try and colour the whole owl. I really enjoyed painting the owl! Please feel free to leave a Positive, Thoughtful and Helpful comment. I hope you have enjoyed this blog post! Bye! Bye! Blogging world!

Gala day 2017!

Hello blogging world! On the 25th of November our whole school participated in a school Gala Day, everyone had to perform a dance and make something that is sustainable. We all had to choose a type of dance I chose Bollywood. Our class also made recycled paper for the sustainable product. After the day we all had a great time. Everyone that went to the Gala Day had to use De Bono Thinking Hats to describe what we thought of the day, if you are wondering what each hat means you can look on the top right corner. Here is my thinking hats and what I thought.

From making this I learnt how to describe my feeling on the day. I thought it was hard to pick the photos for each slide because they took so many good photos and we can only have 1-3 photos on each page. It was easy to talk about the day because I went to it. Overall I really liked the day because there was a lot of entertainment. I hope you have liked my blog post! Please feel free to leave a comment. Bye! Bye! Blogging world!
