Blade Runner 2049 - Bonus and last activity

Hello Blogging world! Over the past 4 weeks I hoe you have enjoyed the blog posts I have been posting including today's one. There is this new movie that is coming out and is called Blade Runner 2049, it is a movie based about what 2099 would look and be like. For this activity we had to think about what 80-90 years would look like from now on.

The kind of houses people will be living in would be like Modern houses or either pent houses, because peoples knowledge must be getting bigger from other people. They will probably still kind of eat the same food but cook it in different ways like a automatic robot cooker, because years later people would want to invent robots. I think people will be working in like digital and coding jobs because right now coding matters a lot and there is a load of digital evolving in activity's like blog posts, and Summer Learning Journey!

I hope that you have enjoyed my blog posts throughout the weeks. PLease feel free to leave a comment about my work! I am sure gonna miss working and blogging with the Summer Learning Journey groups! Bye! Bye! Blogging world! ☹😘😊👋

Flying Cars - Activity 2

Hello Blogging world! For this activity we had to imagine that we have just got our drivers licence, and our family decides to buy us a car. We had to choose out of these 3 cars and which one you would use and why. Here is what I would choose.

I would defiantly choose the white car because, it can probably fit 4 people rather than 2 people. The windows could probably go down all the way until you can't see it like the red car or you can just leave it closed up for warmth. The white car you can also fly with it so probably it is a special feature and most cars don't have it.

I would have chosen the black car because it can fit a lot of stuff and it is probably a 4WD, but the parking might be a little harder.

I could have chosen the red car because it would be really refreshing and cool for the summer, but you can only fit 2 people!

Which car would have have chose? The red, The white or the black? Leave a comment down below! I hope you have enjoyed this blog post! Bye! Bye! Blogging world!

Your Future Self - Day 5

Hello Blogging world! Today is the last day for the Summer Learning Journey! I am so excited to see the prizes and write some feedback! But it is also very sad that it is my last day because I will miss blogging due to that my blog is going to be shut down after the Summer Learning Journey, so I can't post anymore but you can still be able to read what I have written. For doing the Summer Learning Journey I have accomplished to finish over 100 blog posts too!

But on to today's activity, we had to imagine that we are graduating from High School. We had to decide what we would like to do next. There are so many options but here is what I thought I would like to do.

When I finish school I would like to travel to America or China again for 1 month like the Big "OE." After that month I would love to go to Auckland University and study being a Artist, Architect or a lab tester. I don't really have a specific job I want to be but I want to become one of those from the above.

Well those were what I would like to do. What would you have done? Please leave a comment about what you would have done! I hope you have enjoyed my 3rd to last blog post! Bye! Bye! Blogging world!

Singing a different tune - Bonus Activity

Hello Blogging world! A number of New Zealand singers and songwriters have burst out onto the music scene. One of the singers Lorde has gain a lot of recognition for her unique style of her songs. People all over the world seem to love her lyrics of her songs. For this activity we had to share our favourite song with you and type the Lyrics out without copy and pasting here is the lyrics, to Lost Boy...

I  am sorry that it had to be on Google Doc because the Lyrics was so long it couldn't fit onto this blog post! I couldn't take photos either because it used 3 pages. Please feel free to scroll down and read the lyrics. It was hard to type the whole lyrics knowing that every song is very long! I learnt that you blog post can't be too long or else it won't fit. I hope you have enjoyed this! Bye! Bye! Blogging world!

Country Calendar - Activity 2

Hello Blogging world! The longest running television show in New Zealand was Country Calendar. It started on March 6th 1966 and has been running since. The show includes people that are farmers. For this activity we had to find lout what is interesting or challenging and give 2 reasons why you want or not to be a farmer.

It is very interesting that this show has been up for 4 decades/40 years! It must be hard to keep up with all the animals on the farm and buy the food. I would love to be a farmer because there would be so many pretty views of the farm and so many adorable animals. Another reason why I want to be a farmer because you don't always have to go to the supermarket to buy fruit or veges because you can grow a lot of that!

Does my reasons sound convincing? What would your reasons be, leave a comment about that! From making this blog post I learnt what Country Calendars is actually about. It was easy to give the reasons because owning a farm could be very useful! I hope you liked this blog post! Bye! Bye! Blogging world!

Moana - Day 4

Hello Blogging world! In the late 2016 a movie name Moana released by Disney. It is a story a girl named Moana goes on a big adventure. In this activity we had to watch the trailer for the movie, and write a short summary about the movie on our blog post. And if we have watched the movie we had to write what our favourite part was. What is it about? Who are the main characters? What do they do? Where do they go? Here is what I thought.

A long time ago Maui summoned a lava monster but the lava monster is destroying Te Fiti, so Moana had to go find Maui and get him to help Te Fiti by putting Maui's gem on the lava monster. Maui can also change to a eagle and fly high. At the end they finally dodged the lava monster and saved Te Fiti!

The main characters are Moana, Maui, Gramma Tala, Cheif Tui and Hei Hei the rooster. They try to defeat the lava monster in a valid amount of time, and try to save Te Fiti. Moana goes to find Maui which is on the deserted island.

Because I have watched this my favourite part was when Moana started to go on her boat and minutes later she heard a coconut banging she kept wondering what it was until she opened this trap door and found Hei Hei the rooster. It was so funny because it was making such funny noises when she tried to sing.

That was what I thought. Have you seen the movie? Tell me in the comments. I hope you have enjoyed this blog post about Moana. Bye! bye! Blogging world!

Modern Learning Environments - Bonus Activity

Hello Blogging world! Over the past years some schools have changed their classrooms either bigger or different learning. People had MLE which is short for Modern Learning Environment. My previous school made a different type of classroom but it was ILE which is short for Innovative Learning Environment. Some prefer MLE while some are still not sure. For this activity we had to design our own creative classroom and write why it is special and why we designed it this way.

This is my classroom. I use google drawings and took a screenshot and then used thing link to talk about my classroom. Just hover over the image and you will find these dots hover over them too and it will describe what you need to find out. This classroom is special because it is very colourful and makes kids want to learn even more! I designed it this way so that kids can have fun while learning. I hope you have enjoyed my classroom. I forgot to write that the seats were bean bags too, so that is my goal for next time! Please leave a comment if you like my class. Bye! Bye! Blogging world!

Migration - Activity 2

Hello Blogging world! Over the past decades, there has been a huge number of people coming to New Zealand to travel of even live. My family would have been one of those people too! In this activity we had to share our hometown (where we were born) and add a picture but remember to be cyber smart and don't add your address. We also had to list 3 things that tourists could do if they come to my hometown. So here is my hometown.

This is a link where I got my picture from, click here. My hometown was Waiuku/Pukekohe and I lived here for about 4 years and now moved to Auckland. 3 things you can do here as a tourist is go to the beach that is in Waiuku and go fishing. The 2nd thing to do is biking because there is a lot of mountains that you can bike on. The last things to do is if you are into horses you should go to Silver Fern Riding Stables.

If you are interested to go to Waiuku here is a map. I hope you have enjoyed this blog post! Please feel free to leave a comment about what your hometown is. Bye! Bye! Bogging world!

Mixed-Member Proportional (MMP) - Day 3

Hello Blogging world! In 1996, New Zealand adopted the MMP voting system. In September 2017 we had a national election. Only people the age of 18 and over were able to vote, the vote was so close and in the end. 3 different political parties came together and made their own government. It was called a ‘coalition government’ because it includes different people from different political parties. For this activity we had to imagine that we were in a coalition government with 2 other people. We had to choose 2 other people and say why is that your decision? Here is mine.

I would form a coalition with my friend Lily and my other friend Ashana. I chose Lily because she is very smart and she knows a lot of digital and coding stuff, she also is very funny and talkative. I also chose Ashana because she is good at problem solving, she is very helpful and kind.

Do you like my reasons? Well, who would you choose tell me in the comments! I hope you have enjoyed this blog post and learnt more about voting if you would like to know more about the MMP voting system click here! Bye! Bye! Blogging world!

Shake it off - Bonus activity

Hello Blogging world! In recent years, many New Zealanders have embraced a new form of exercise called Zumba. It was made by a man named Alberto Perez who lives in a country, Columbia. He created Zumba up by bringing together many different dance styles like: cumbia, mambo, hip-hop, soca, samba, salsa, tango, merengue and mambo. We had to choose one of the dance styles and read more about it. We had to post 3 interesting facts about the chosen dance and what country was it originally from and who created it? I chose The Tango.

  1. Tango is a partner dance so you can't dance by yourself.
  2. Today there is many forms of Tango extant.
  3. The Tango got created in the 1880s.
The dance was originally Argentina and Uruguay. Tango is a partner dance along the River Plata the dance soon started to spread. I hope you have learnt more about this type of dance. Please leave a comment about this dance! Bye! Bye! Blogging world!

Sporting Heros - Activity 2

Hello Blogging world! In 2015 a kiwi golfer named Lydia Ko became the youngest women to reach the #1 ranking. She was only 17 years old that time, many people admired her and said she was their idol. For this activity we had to share our favourite
sporting hero or either a famous athlete. Who are they and why are they a hero? I don't have much sporting heroes but I chose Valerie Adams.

She is a kiwi shot put player and she has played in the Olympic games and Commonwealth games too. She has been to many countries to compete and has won a lot of medals. Valerie is a sporting hero because she has been the dominant women's shot putter in the world since 2006.

Does she sound like a cool sporting hero, well if you would like to find out more about her click here.   I hope you have enjoyed this blog post and have learnt who Valerie Adams is if you have not yet. Bye! Bye! Blogging world!

Chasing Great - Day 2

Over the past 17 years New Zealand experienced a number of sporting highlights, perhaps none larger than the back-to-back Rugby World Cup victories in 2011 and 2015. In both competitions a our national rugby team the All Blacks, was captained by a man named "Richie McCaw." He is the all time best rugby player. A movie called "Chasing Great" recently created was about his incredible career.

For this activity we had to watch the trailer of Chasing Great and learn more about him online that we never knew. After watching and learning we had to list them. We also had to write what else we would like to find out.

Here are my facts,

  1. He wants to take his team to places people have never been.
  2. When he was little he wanted to become a great All Black player.
  3. He exercises almost the whole day, like even at night!

This trailer seems so interesting and makes me want to watch the movie. Another thing I would like to learn more about Richie McCaw was when did he start being in the All Blacks team and when he started loving sports.

The Rise of the 'Selfie' - Bonus activity

Hello Blogging world! In the early 2000's people started to take selfies and post it online. For this activity we had to take a selfie of our selves and post it online. We also had to share 1 thing that we love. Here is my selfie.

That was my photo. I was squishing one of my squishes that I love! My hobbies is Art, Crafting and designing. I also love playing with my squishes and slime! I hope you have enjoyed  my blog post for today. Please feel free to leave a comment about what your favourite hobbies is. Bye! Bye! Blogging world!

Lord of the Rings - Activity 2

Hello Blogging world! In New Zealand there was this New Zealander named Peter Jackson, he filmed the 3 movies of Lord of the Rings. The first movie released in 2001, the 2nd one released in 2002 and the 3rd one released in 2003. To produce these movies it would cost about $300 Million Dollars which is a load of money! For this activity we had to imagine that Peter Jackson would give that $300 Million Dollars to you. We had to think carefully about what we should do with the money. So here is what I would do.

I would first buy a average house not too big and not too small. Then for transporting I would buy a good car also not too big and not too small. I would buy some grocery's to put into the empty cupboards and some decorations. I would also buy a Warehouse to sell things so I would get even more money! Next I would donate $1 Million Dollars to Charity. The rest of the money could be saved up for the bank and bills. Saving up is a good thing so that you won't be poor once you have bought and donated all of these stuff.

Do you think I spent my money wisely? Well tell me in the comments. I hope you have enjoyed this blog post! Please feel free to also talk about what you would do with the money. Bye! Bye! Blogging world!

Celebrating a Win - Day 1

Hello Blogging world! In 2000, New Zealand celebrated when Russell Coutts and his sailing team won a 2nd straight America's Cup. Many people celebrated with their family and friends. For this activity we had to share what our family would do for special events.

When it is a special event we usually got to the beach when the weather is great. At the beach we also eat pizza, fried chicken, hot chips and much more yummy food.

From making this blog post I learnt that in 2000 Russell Coutts and his sailing team won the America's Cup. I hope you have enjoyed this blog post! Please feel free to leave a comment about what your family would do to celebrate. Bye! Bye! Blogging world!

You have to Pay to Play - Bonus activity

Hello Blogging world! It all changed in 1990 when people had to start paying for University. Students had to pay thousands of dollars to go to school. Th new labour government has promised to give up 3 years of free post secondary education. (After high school) For all New Zealanders in 2020! which is great! For this activity we had to think if paying for University is good or not.

This was a hard decision but I think it is not a good idea because paying a thousand dollars each year is a lot of money, and every student should be able to learn and study because some people might not be able to afford a thousand dollars every year.

I hope you have enjoyed my reasons. From making this blog post I learnt that our new Prime Minister promised that going to University would be free post in 2020. Please feel free to leave a comment! Bye! Bye! Blogging world!

Leading New Zealand - Activity 2

Hello Blogging world! In the 1990s there were four different individuals served as Prime Minister of New Zealand. Geoffrey Palmer, Mike Moore, Jim Bolger and Jenny Shipley. For this activity we had to choose one of these people and write a profile about one of them. I chose Mike Moore. Here is my profile about him.

That was the profile about Mike Moore, I know the profile is quite small but I can't change the size. From making this blog post I learnt more about Mike Moore. He looks and sounds like a nice and welcoming Prime Minister. Who would have you chosen out of those 5 people? Tell me in the comments! I hope you have enjoyed this blog post! If you would like to learn more about him here is a link. Bye! Bye! Blogging world!

Hiking Tongariro - Day 5

Hello Blogging world! In 1990 one of the biggest national parks was Tongariro, It is truly a wonderful view! Every year over a thousand people come to cross the Tongariro Crossing. For this activity we had list 5 things that we would have to bring to hike Tongariro. Here is my 5 things.

  1.  Rain coat because you don't know when the weather is going to change at Tongariro.
  2.  2 bottles or more water because hiking Tongariro is hard work!
  3.  Sunhat for the sun.
  4.  Jacket in case the weather changes.
  5.  A backpack to carry everything you need.

Those were just basic stuff that you will always need on a hike. If you found this blog post interesting and helpful please comment down below! Bye! Bye! Blogging world!

The 4 O’Clock News - Bonus Activity

Hello Blogging world! In 1982 a Maori Launguage show started and still is available to watch today. Just go on channel 1 at 3:55pm and you would see it! There is this man named Scotty Morrison and he hosts this channel he could interview anyone. For this Bonus Activity we had to imagine that were Scotty Morrison and we could interview anyone we wanted to. I would like to interview Jacinda Arden.

I would like to choose Jacinda Arden because she lives in New Zealand so that she doesn't have to travel that far to New Zealand, and she is our new prime minister. I would ask her if she likes being the prime minister of New Zealand? I would also ask if she is very tired of being the prime minister?

From making this blog post I learnt that Scotty Morrision hosts the Maori Language show. I hope you have enjoyed this blog post! Who would you have interviewed? Tell me in the comments! Bye! Bye! Blogging world!

The Big 'OE' - Activity 2

Hello Blogging world! In the 1980s graduating became incredibly popular. When people graduated they always went to other countries to live or work before studying. A number of Kiwis went to Australia and England. This was also called the "Big Overseas Experience," long for the big OE. For this activity we had to imagine we were a student in the 1980s where would you travel and why? Here is where I would go.

England
England is a country that takes about 2 days to get to if you are from New Zealand. England is also close to Germany, Switzerland and France. I chose this country because it is the #1 prettiest country. I also picked this because England even has their own famous song, "London Bridge Is Falling Down." I also want to go to this country because England has a lot of famous buildings. Here is some photos and what I would like to do and see.

I would like to see  the Big Ben and also see the London Bridge. At England I would love to visit and explore a England castle.

I hope you have enjoyed this blog post! Please feel free to leave a comment about where you would go if you graduate. Bye! Bye! Blogging world!

Hairy Maclary - Day 4

Hello Blogging world! One of the most popular children's stories written in the 1983s is Hairy Maclary from Donaldson Dairy. It was written by a kiwi women named Lynley Dodd. It is now sold in dozens of countries around the world, the story features a small dog called " Hairy ." For this activity we had to use the sentence starter from the start of the book and we had to finish it off with our own twist. This story has to be at least 8-10 sentences. Here is my story.

Hairy Maclary from Donaldson's Dairy.
Out of the gate and off for a walk went Hairy Maclary from Donaldson’s Dairy. Hairy Maclary found a fairy and said he was from the dairy. Following Hairy came the poodle the poodle just wanted to doodle! Hairy Maclary said he was the Dairy so the Poodle followed along too. Soon the sky turned to fog Hairy found a Bulldog, Hairy introduced the Bulldog by saying Hairy is from the Dairy. Hairy Maclary went to a farm and found a pig that was eating figs. Hairy Maclary went to the house to see the farmer the farmer was from Donaldson's Dairy!
The End!

From making this blog post I learnt who made the book of Hairy Maclary. It was hard to think about the sentences because the story usually rhymes so I tried my best to rhyme it sometimes. I hope you have enjoyed my story! Please feel free to leave a comment! Bye! Bye! Blogging world!

A Bilingual Schooling System - Bonus Activity

Hello Blogging world! For the past century schools in NZ only taught 1 language which was English. In 1972 a Nga Tamatoa member submitted a change for school to learn more than 1 language and also learn Maori in New Zealand schools. We still learn it to this day.For this activity we have to write a letter to our principle about if we would like to learn different things, here is my letter to my recent principle.

Dear: Mrs. Peterson,
Kia Ora Mrs. Peterson this is Amie from Waikowhai Primary School. I have been participating in the Summer Learning Journey and would like for a change in your school. I would like to learn more useful languages so next time you can maybe be a translator when you grow up? Going to school for 5 days is still perfect but the amount of cars everyday will have to be parked on the side so maybe our school can try make the parking available again? Thank you for your time.
From: Amie

There was my message. It was polite and respectful I hope you have tried out writing a letter to your principle if your school should change anything? It was hard to think about the changes we could have because Waikowhai Primary School is already a great and cool school! Here is also a link to our school website. Please feel free to leave a comment down below! Bye! Bye! Blogging world!

Bell Bottom Pants - Activity 2

Hello Blogging world! In the 1970s fashion was quite unique, for this activity we had to look closely at the 2 photos and write 2 things that we like about the typical 1970s fashion and 2 things we dislike. Here are the 2 photos so you can also write your opinion too in the comments!

  1.  I like how the women have bright and happy colours on there clothes.
  2.  I like how the men made their hair very clean and smooth.
  1.  I don't like how the women have long saggy pants with a short shirt.
  2.  I don't like how the men have patterned pants because it doesn't look simple.
There was my thoughts, from making this blog post I learnt that 1970s fashion was pretty different compared to 2018/2017's fashion. I hope you enjoyed this blog post, please feel free to read any other of my blog posts! Bye! Bye! Blogging world!

Ready to Roll - Day 3

Hello Blogging world! In the 1970s the most popular television shows was Ready to Roll. During the show Rodger would introduce music videos and then play them for the TV audience. He would also invite famous singers to perform songs. We had to rank 3 of the clips that were in the Ready to Roll show. Here is my rankings.

#1 Ray Columbus and the Invaders.

#2 Golden Harvest.

#3 New Zealand Underdogs.

New Zealand Underdogs was last because the song kind of sounds very slow and depressing and I don't like slow music. Ray Columbus and the Invaders was 1st because it was very active and a fun song to listen to. I hope you have enjoyed this blog post! Please feel free to leave a comment about what you would rate it. Bye! Bye! Blogging world!

The Three R's - Bonus Activity

Hello Blogging world! In the 1960s sport in New Zealand was dominated by the 3 R's, rugby, running and racing. In 1960 Peter Snell won a gold medal for completing the 800 metre race in 1964 in the Olympic Games. Here is a link to a documentary about Peter Snell. For this onus activity we had to watch this and make a poster on Canva about Peter Snell. Here is what I made about him.

If you would like to use Canva here is a link to the website. Peter Snell would enjoyed almost every sports because he is a athlete. You can easily sign up and it is very easy to use. From making this blog post I learnt that Piktochart is very similar to Canva. I hope you have enjoyed this blog post please feel free to leave a comment! Bye! Bye! Blogging world!

Rock 'n' Roll - Activity 2

Hello Blogging world! In 1964 famous brands started to travel around the world. New Zealand hosted the most popular band times, The Beatles. For this activity we had to read more about their tour they had at New Zealand and find 3 interesting facts. Here are my facts that I found while reading about their tour.

  1.  They were so popular that even a girl tried to climb thought a wire fence and got badly hurt.
  2.  The Te Pataka performed a Haka before doing a Hongi which is pressing their noses.
  3.  The crowd was so big in the Beatles hotel that they couldn't even get out so they had to secretly go through the bottle shop so that the hotel doesn't crash.

Wow! They sounded so popular, I wonder what it would have felt like to be in the Beatles crew. Would you like to meet the Beatles? Tell me in the comments down below! Bye! Bye! Blogging world!

The Dawn of Television - Day 2

Hello Blogging world! It all changed in the 1960s when there started to start technology. Popular programmes like Town and Around and C'mon was often watched. The television still remains popular these days. For this activity we have to share what our favourite television show is, what it is about, who are the main characters and what channel is it on.

My favourite Television show at the moment is DanceMoms.

When you think of DanceMoms you might be thinking that the moms dance but that is incorrect!  Let me tell you about it, the start of DanceMoms there were 6 original girl dancers but soon came along more seasons and more people joined. Every week they practice a dance routine like, Solo, Trio, Duet or Dance Group and at the end of the week they compete at a competition they usually win 1st place but the star student in DanceMoms is Maddie Ziegler here are the main characters.

These are the Main Characters from the start to the end. Start Brooke Hyland, Paige Hyland, Maddie Ziegler, Mackenzie Ziegler, Nia Sioux and Chloe Lukasiak. Here are the ones till the end Nia Sioux has stayed the longest and is still part of DanceMoms! Jojo Siwa, Brynn Rumfallo, Kendall Vertes and Kalani Hilliker. This Television show was on channel 4 but I think they don't put it on tv now. And as well the coaches Abby Lee Miller and Gianna Martello.

Here is a picture attribution. I hope you have enjoyed this blog post! Please feel free to leave a comment about your favourite TV show! Bye! Bye! Blogging world!

Meat and Three Veg - Day 1

Hello Blogging world! Today's activity is asking if we wold enjoy a 1950s dinner, well here is what a 1950s dinner had, ! type of meat either beef, lamb or chicken and 3 different veges. What you like to eat it, tell me in the comments! Here is a photo of on to give you a better opinion.

There is the picture, I would actually have enjoyed this meal because I love eating most kinds of vegetables and I love meat too! But just hopefully it has good seasoning to it.

Did you like my opinion? From making this blog post I learnt that in the 1950s they ate that types of meals because it was a rule. I kinda like the rule but if you eat that everyday you will get sick of it and won't like eating it again. I think this is a ok rule. I hope you enjoyed this blog post! Bye! Bye! Blogging world!

Snail Mail - Bonus Activity

Hello Blogging world! In the 1950s most people communicated by using letters.New Zealanders sent over 200 million letters and postcards in the 1950s! For this activity we had to imagine we were sending each other postcards and letters in the 1950s what would have in the front of your letter? Here is what I would have.

Do you like my postcard? Well if you are also participating in the Summer Learning Journey I encourage you to do this fun bonus activity if you haven't yet! The girl is holding a hokey pokey ice cream which is Kiwiana and there is a Kiwi too. The tree are Pohutukawa trees, the girl is also wearing jandals and there is also more jandals on the ground. Lastly there are ferns and the New Zealand name.

It was hard to make the icons with the shapes so most oft he things are from google search and they are all free to use images! It took a long time but it was worth it! I hope you have enjoyed this blog post please feel free to leave a comment! Bye! Bye! Blogging world!

What's in a Name? - Activity 2

Hello Blogging world! In the 1950s lots of families had lots of babies. The population of people grew bye 400,000 people which is a lot of people. This time of the year people called it the baby boom! Popular names in the 1950s were,

GIRLS BOYS
Christine John
Susan David
Margaret Peter
Judith Michael
Jennifer Robert

In my Primary School these name were not that popular but here, are 3 girls and 3 boys most popular names at my old school.

GIRLS BOYS
Lily Jacob
Amy Jerry
Louise Joshua

Wow you can tell that there is a lot of popular boy names beginning with J. It was hard to think about the girls names because not much girls had the same except for the one who use to be here and Lily because lots of people have that as their names. I hope you have enjoyed this blog post please feel free to leave a comment about my work! Bye! bye! Blogging world!
